This week, the Fresno County Department of Child Support Services and the Fresno County Probation Department joined with United Way, Fresno State, Chevron, the Fresno Grizzlies and numerous other partners to provide 1,230 backpacks to Huron Elementary and Middle School students at the “More than a Backpack” event in Huron, California.

Along with each backpack, students were provided with school and art supplies and reading books, generously donated by partner organizations including Ultra Gro, Bonner Family Foundation, Walgreens, Fresno Housing Authority, and Reading Heart. Employees of County Child Support Services, County Probation, and the Fresno Grizzlies supported the effort by generously donated hundreds of pairs of new socks and underwear for the students.
