The California Department of Social Services (CDSS) has announced that CalFresh assistance benefits for the month of February have been issued early to most recipient’s Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) accounts. The early issuance of February benefits was necessary to access federal funds that will not otherwise be available as the federal government’s shutdown continues.
The Fresno County Department of Social Services wants to ensure children and families have the CalFresh assistance they need for the month of February. Families that received their CalFresh benefits early are encouraged to plan their food budget accordingly as these are February CalFresh benefits and no additional benefits will be issued in February.
CalFresh recipients who were not included in the ‘early issuance’ group will get February benefits on their normal issuance date, as long as they are determined eligible.
Individuals or families can apply for CalFresh benefits and cash aid at their local social service agency, or online at www.mybenefitscalwin.org. CalFresh recipients with questions regarding their case should contact their local welfare department at 1-855-832-8082. Individuals and families who apply for benefits after January 15, 2019, will have their February benefits issued on or after February 1, 2019, provided funding is available.
The Department is awaiting guidance from the federal government regarding the issuance of CalFresh benefits in the month of March.
