Melissa Cregan appointed Agricultural Commissioner/Sealer of Weights & Measures for the County of Fresno Department of Agriculture

MelissaCreganThe Board of Supervisors has appointed Melissa Cregan to the position of Agricultural Commissioner/Sealer of Weights & Measures for the County of Fresno Department of Agriculture retroactively effective March 11, 2019.

Commissioner Cregan holds a B.S. in Animal Science from U.C. Davis and brings 30+ years of experience in livestock and 12 years in civil service leadership. Having grown up in the Chico area of Butte County, her love of Ag was apparent early as a member of their local 4-H chapter for nine years (serving as chapter president for two years). While in college, she worked at the campus livestock facilities and the feed mill, which led to her being recognized as one of four students to complete their Stallion Management Internship.

Her pathway set- directly out of college her first agricultural job was that of an inspector in Madera County; and over the next decade, her career continued to flourish. Promoted to serve as Deputy Ag Commissioner first in Madera County (over their pesticide regulatory program) and later Fresno County (over the Pest Detection & Exclusion Division) laid the groundwork for what was to come. As talks of her predecessor’s retirement loomed, she was named Assistant Ag Commissioner and served as interim Commissioner after his departure.

Please join us as we congratulate Melissa K. Cregan on her appointment to Agricultural Commissioner/Sealer of Weights and Measures and to continued success in her career here at the County of Fresno.
