Fresno County District 1 Supervisor, Brian Pacheco, recently joined with community leaders to break ground on the new North District Center for West Hills Community College District in Firebaugh.
This project has been in the works for nearly 20 years! The district has held classes in Firebaugh since 1971, and it serves about 600 students today.
A new campus built with state and local money will allow students in western Fresno County access to the most highly advanced learning tools available when the center opens in two years.
As part of the project, the County of Fresno and West Hills Community College District partnered on a new Fresno County/West Hills Library at the center site. The library will offer access to the community and students. It will feature a designated children’s area and a community meeting room.
Said former District 1 Supervisor, Phil Larson, “This is a fantastic day celebrating a project that is a game-changer for western Fresno County.”
